About Me
While my real name is Graham Griffiths, for the past 30 years I’ve been known as Picasso Griffiths — a fun, memorable name that suits what I do.
Originally from North Wales, I moved to Cardiff and spent 12 years working as an animator on much-loved children’s TV series including Super Ted, Shoe People, Funny Bones, and Viz. I also worked on Wales’ first animated feature film, Princess and the Goblins, and the special half-hour animated adaptation of Dylan Thomas’ Under Milk Wood.
Animation has been great fun and, just as importantly, it trained my eye, speed, and observation — skills that translate perfectly into live, on-the-spot caricature.
For the past 30 years, much of my work has involved entertaining at events and weddings all over the country, drawing live caricatures while engaging with people. I’m a showman and an entertainer, and I genuinely love meeting people — so this really is a dream job.
Alongside my live work, I continue to produce animations through Picflics Animation, illustrate books, design games and merchandise, and take on a wide range of creative projects. My pen works 24 hours a day, seven days a week — and my brain is always buzzing.
I was also instrumental in setting up the first-ever animation workshops in Wales, beginning at Chapter Arts Centre, followed by the Black Video and Film Animation Workshop, Techniquest, and the S4C Blue Peter Storyboard Competition. I also helped establish an animation course that became highly successful and well regarded within the industry, and is now part of the University of Wales. I continue to teach part-time, and over the years it has been a real pleasure supporting countless students and watching their progress and achievements..
